I wanted this design to be fun and funky, but also warm. Going through their website, I saw a mural they have in their office and loved it, so I decided to use it as a source of inspiration and as a starting point for my design. I used one of the characters in it as a representative figure for the company and as a personification of it. I decided to use only the character and the logo of the company as elements and to find a creative way to make them interact so that the image would be a coherent visual whole. I wanted to to give the design dynamicity by using the logomark as a context and frame for the character.")

I wanted it to be a typographic logo, yet incorporate the suggestion of the ocean/sea through the shape of a fish in an organic way, to create a single coherent visual unit. I chose a wavy, flexible line flowing across the whole logo as a suggestion of surfing and the beach, using some accents to reinforce this suggestion - the two inside curved lines paired with the shape of the C in .Co, indicating water through a splash. The oval composition resembles the shape of a badge, giving the logo a bit of a vintage vibe. I wanted to create an expressive, dynamic design that illustrates and can represent a unique identity and a lot of character, conveying cool, loose and creative.")

The client was looking for the feel of old world meets urban core, bringing the farm to the city. In designing this logo, I wanted to create something that conveys adventure and a youthful feel, merging a retro atmosphere with a modern, minimalistic, contemporary esthetic. I used strong lines and subtle details to obtain simplicity through stylization, using the tomato as the central imagistic piece and giving it a brick-like pattern, referencing the oven along with the general cut circle shape of the tomato. I used the wood fire as a supplementary reference to the oven and as a binding element, bringing together text and image in a coherent composition, in a unitary whole.")

In creating this design, I wanted to obtain something clean and modern, but also something cool and expressive, in consonance with the surf/beach vibe of the brand. I wanted this logo to be a versatile one, a logo that could be used in different variants and contexts without losing its specific character. I chose to create a logotype, using the short AuB. in order for it to have a monogram quality to it and to be more visually impactful, but I also introduced the whole name into the composition to show how they could work together; nonetheless, the logotype can easily be used on its own. The sinuous, modulated lines of the logotype give dynamicity and expressivity to the composition and I wanted to integrate the “u” in a creative way, introducing it as a link between the other two letters and thus preserving the flow of the whole.")

I wanted the characters to be expressive and to stand out, to have personality so that they would be immediately recognizable when seen in different postures and contexts and I used drawing and modulated, sinuous lines that give them expressivity and dynamicity to obtain this. I used a vibrant, powerful color palette, with bright, yet refined, rich tints and gradients to give them depth and I used shadows and highlights to suggest perspective and to give them more of a natural feel.")

I chose to represent the logomark in the form of a stylization of the letter M, giving it volume with a twist by using the illusion of the three dimensions to create an impossible shape. I used a vintage-inspired font in all-caps for the name, easily readable, but expressive through its long, wavy lines, complementing the straight lines and sharp corners of the M shape and a simpler font for the word “architect” that curves like and arch above the logomark. As a final accent, I gave the logo an overall stamp-like retro texture, giving it a little more depth and expressivity.")

I wanted the logo mark to be expressive and original, so that it could become the distinctive mascot of the brand, one that could stand alone and thus that could be used on its own. I used modulated, expressive lines in outlining the stylized monkey and aimed at making it appealing to a large range of public. I used rich, vibrant, yet somewhat subtle color tints to make the logo pop up and highlights and shades to give it a bit of depth. The composition as a whole is a circular one, mirroring the shape of the waffles and their distinctive bubbles. I used a cool, dynamic font, readable from a considerable distance and introduced a bubble inside the O as a fun accent and as a way to reinforce the wording in the name, through image.")

The name OWNAGE is here represented as an object through the appearance of perspective, therefore as an active part of the composition and suggests visually something like a playground for the characters inspired by the mascot, also creating the impression of space and alluding to the essentially playful character of prank calls. I tried to keep the mascot’s facial expression and general characteristics in order for it to be recognizable, while stylizing it in a way I could obtain a more detailed and expressive rendition of it. I used a bright and powerful color palette, yet with subtle tones, in harmonized combinations.")

I aimed at making something fun and hip, but also something unique and full of imagination, that could tell a story and spark up a narrative in the viewer’s mind through the (possible) web of relations between the elements; these connections also serve the purpose of making the composition a unitary whole. Thus, I had the idea of underlining the specific character of the loveseat – the piece of furniture that inspired the store’s name – by placing two other personified pieces of furniture in the composition, sitting on it; these give the design a playful and spontaneous feel and expressivity through their postures and sinuous, modulated lines and through the inherent contrast between them and the rigidity and stillness associated with furniture.")

I tried to focus on obtaining a cool and fresh image, while drawing inspiration from vintage surf-themed T-shirts and stickers. Given the theme and the slogan that was to be incorporated into the design (“Long Live Lipstick”), I wanted not to merely illustrate a lipstick, but to incorporate the idea of lipstick into a coherent composition that could tell a story and would appeal to women and girls. I chose a circular composition that focuses the view on itself and gives the waves a plus of dinamicity and power. I wanted to suggest that they (the waves) are the character’s hair, concentrating the attention on her lips. I chose vintage-inspired fonts and colors, based on primary colors, but in subtle, rich, vivid tints and tried to further accentuate the retro feel by giving an aging texture to the whole design.")

I wanted to express a sense of natural freshness and diversity and I tried to achieve that through a mandala-like composition built with natural vegetal elements grown by Dart Farms (cosmos flower, lavander, echinacea or thyme). In order to emphasize even more this sense of natural luxury, I used subtle, yet vibrant and deep color tones. In constructing each element, I tried to find an equilibrium between stylization and description and to express wholeness and community through the relations between parts and, as a direct result, through the composition.")

I used organic, stylized, yet recognizable elements to create a mandala-shaped logo mark and tried to make these elements interact to create a coherent composition, a unitary whole, one organic in itself; to this end, I tried to keep a balance between reducing the lines and shapes to their essence and using some amount of detail, while remaining distinguishable without overburdening the design altogether.")
