1) I like the top strip at the top of http://www.premierleague.com, http://threadless.com, http://nba.com ... a space where one can put a search form, links to our other future brands, and give announcements

2) If you want to do gradient background, try dark at the top, lighter a bottom

3) Please don't forget space for advertisements --- may use space for announcements or monetary ads

4) Think a bit broader than software. Really hoping for an exciting feel of media, technology, entertainment, even though software is currently our main offering
