This page will be accessible by anyone without logging in.
On all pages, we’d like our logo at the top left corner and a menu with these words on the same line on the right:
- Explore !
- Submit a Project
- Our Mission
Under this menu there will be a space with our tagline and a short text explaining our mission and what the website is about/what projects we select.
Under the short text, we’d like 2 boxes: one saying "Start Exploring Projects" (that will take users to the "Explore !" page and another one saying "Submit Your Project" (taking users to the corresponding page).
The best thing would be that, as users scroll down the page, the menu is always visible at the top and these 2 boxes are also visible at all times (either at the bottom or somewhere else).
Under this first section, we will display highlights of our projects, probably around 6 projects. Crowdfunding websites usually display 3 projects on one line, but any new idea would be interesting. It is just important that information are easily read.
Each project's info should contain: the title (2-3 lines), the location, the category, the objective (1 line each), and the abstract (10-12 lines). What we mean by "objective" is: what the project holder is looking for: Investors, Donations, Partners... Each project usually is illustrated with a picture, but we’d rather replace it by a colored icon or a colored box (a different icon and color for each category). Another interesting thing at the bottom could be the number of "views" and the number of "likes" to make it look more dynamic.
EXPLORE ! page:
This page will be accessible only to logged in users (therefore, the "Sign in" button on the menu will be replaced by the user’s name or initials).
On this page, there will be a space under the menu with some text explaining what type of projects we select and why we selected them.
Under this section, there should be a way for users to choose which projects they want to see: they must be able to sort the projects by category, location, and objective (all 3 at the same time) and once they’ve made a choice, they should also be able to list them by: newest, most viewed, or most liked.
Then come the projects. Most crowdfunding sites list 3 projects on each line as it probably is the best way to make it clear and readable, but the way projects are displayed is up to you. Keep in mind there will be a lot of projects and users must find it easy and fun to explore them. For each project, we’d like the same info as described for the homepage’s highlights.
Under the projects (or somewhere else on the page), there should be 2 boxes: one saying "Find a specific type of projects" and another box saying "Submit Your Project". As for the "Homepage", the menu and these 2 boxes should remain visible at all times.
SUBMIT A PROJECT page:
This page will be accessible only to logged in users.
Again, in the top section, there will be a short text explaining what types of projects we accept and who can submit them. On this page, project holders will enter all info concerning their projects and will submit it via an online form.
Therefore, we need to create a form containing more than 10 sections (see details below). In each section, we will write a short text explaining what info must be provided and under this text project holders will be able to write about their project.
The sections are: Title (15 words max); Category + Location + Looking for (as drop-down menus); Abstract (200 words max); Project Leader (1 line to enter name of Project Leader); Shortcut to his page on ReserchGate (space to enter a URL); Shortcut to his page on LinkedIn (space to enter URL); Team (200 words max); Advisors (50 words max); Background (250 words max); The Project (500 words max); Milestones (150 words max); Financials (200 words max); Impact on Life (150 words max); Strengths (70 words max); Weaknesses (70 words max); What We Need (150 words max).
Notice we've put the maximum number of words the Project Holders will be able to enter for each section. This is to give you an idea of the amount of text that will be written. It would also be better if you place this maximum number of words allowed close to each section (either at the top or bottom).
It is important that project holders are able to save each section as the form is filled. And after these sections, we need a box where project holders can first upload a cover image for their project, then another one to upload images/charts and a third box asking them to upload a copy of their ID.
It would also be a good thing to place somewhere on this page a text stating something like: "For any question concerning the project submission process, please check our FAQ page (with a link to FAQ)." Under this section, please also allow some space for this text: "You can also contact our support team at this address: …"
Again, as for previous pages, this page will contain a lot of information and we’d appreciate it if project holders find it easy to understand and fun to fill in.
