Voici comment AppropriateSolutions a commencé son expérience web page design
Nom de l'entreprise
We are a web development company focussed on web standards, usability and accessibility. Our aim is to supply simple and easy to use websites that fulfil the needs of the target audience and the business objectives of the client.
The client is a new business which is looking to grow rapidly in a dynamic market place. The client provides Solar Power services to small to medium size businesses by installing Solar Panels on their roof and in return for the money generated by selling the power back to the grid, either paying them a rent for the roof space or providing them with free electricity.
They have an existing website which is acting as a holding page while the final website is completed. The company works closely with it's more established sister company and the relationship between the two should be reflected in the design. The sister companies website is undergoing a redesign and the new design is included as an image.
The design should reflect their professional competence and should appeal to decision makers within small to medium sized businesses. The potential customers are mostly motivated by seeing a return from the arrangement either as income or as savings on energy costs.
Parlez-nous de vous et des personnes que vous souhaitez cibler
The client needs to communicate with decision makers in a number of different organisations:
- Small to medium sized businesses who own their property (owner occupiers)
- Small to medium sized businesses who lease their property (tenants)
- Owners of Commercial premises (landlords)
- Farmers and other Landowners (landowners)
All these groups will have a detached and serious interest in the installation process as well as wanting to know how the financial or other rewards will fit into their business plans. They will be interested in the details of the installation package, the period of time over which the arrangement runs, the provision for servicing and maintenance during this period as well as the reliability of the pricing structure upon which the business depends. This is the Feed in Tariffs or FITs – the price paid by the UK power grid for the electricity generated by these solar micro-power stations. It is the recent increase in these FITs that has created the business niche in which the client operates
Designs will be required for 2 pages:
- Home page
- Register Your Roof page
The other interior pages will be created from the designs provided for these.
Although the wire frame has borders on all elements these are not defined in the brief. The wire frame is signed off in terms of layout and structure, but we are looking for a creative interpretation of the elements.
The colours should follow the supplied logo, and the layout should follow the supplied wire frames. The font in the logo is Square 721 BT Roman though no licence is held. The design should be 960px wide with the right hand column 240px wide.
The final design should be delivered in a fully layered .psd file with all images at full size and in place. The final size of the design should be greater than the final website to allow for adjustments without serious degrading of image quality.

Description de la page
The Home page
This page will allow each of the main groups to easily move to the most relevant area of the site for them. The 4 main call to actions are:
- Solutions for Owner Occupiers
- Solutions for Landowners
- Solutions for Landlords
- Solutions for Tenants
Each will provide links to relevant content, and should be representative of the pages to which they link.
The rest of the content area is not specifically defined and can be used as the designer sees fit. The right hand column must contain the Register your Roof mini-form and the Call to Action elements below. The Call to Action elements in the right hand column will change with time, so a general look to these blocks is needed.
The main menu will not need to expand or drop down as a contextual menu is created on interior pages for sub-pages.
The Register your Roof page
This is the main destination page for the site and will provide a mechanism to gather leads from interested visitors.
It consists of a large Google map through which the visitor can mark the location of their properties, together with a form where they can provide some details about themselves and the properties they are registering.
The right hand form contains a section “Register a Property” which will allow the client to enter property details including postcode (which will then move the map over the property), tag the property roof in the map with a pin, then click the plus (+) to add it to the growing list of “Your Properties” beside it.
Once completed the visitor will click “Register Properties” and will be taken to a confirmation page.
Please just google the phrases "Solar Power" and "Feed in Tariff" for some examples of the sector. The client is quite open minded to designs but has expressed a liking for the Apple website with it's clean looks http://www.apple.com and that of a supplier Trina Solar at http://www.trinasolar.com/index.php.
We have included the agreed design for the redesign of the sister site http://www.sundog-energy.co.uk as we would like there to be an association in branding between the two sites.
