We are starting up a retail store and related website that will sell gifts that accent body and home.
In general the merchandise will be non-mass produced, affordable, functional high-quality items that will primarily focus on women ages 20 and up, but will include gifts for men, infants, and of course the home.
Some examples of the types of things we will be carrying are: Italian leather goods like gloves and wallets, articles made of cashmere like throws for bed and sofas and scarves, jewelry, candles, home scents and one of a kind serving pieces as well as high end art pieces for home decorations.
On the other end of the spectrum, we will also carry less expensive whimsical items that would be appropriate for hostess gifts. We want the website to convey sophistication but with a light hearted feel.
We want people to think of us as a place to go to for gifts for themselves or others that exude quality but are fun to shop for, fun to own and rewarding to give.
Remember think Quality without Pretense
This Contest will be for TWO story boards (No HTML Coding).
Storyboard ONE: Front page of the website
Storyboard TWO: A typical Department page (no a product list page, but more of a landing page with content)
The final product should be a NEATLY layered and comment file that can be use to produce the look on the web without the need to redesign any elements. Please name your layers and group them accordingly. I do not want 80 layers all unnamed and scattered all over.
The logo and color scheme are already set in stone so be sure to only submit work within the guidelines.
The logo and color scheme can be seen at: http://www.curategifts.com
Creative element can be downloaded here, everyone should be able to find a file that will work in their program of choice.
In the most general terms they want a clean website that has some of the common web 2.0 design elements (gradients, rounded corners, small reflections, watermarked / opaque textures).
They want to see the name on the first storyboard spelled like in the dictionary “Cu-rate” with the following definition “bringing together fabulous collections under one roof”
Also the name is “Curate” NOT “CurateGifts” the CurateGifts is just the domain name!
The official tag line is “fabulous functional affordable gifts”
Read the Comments for additional design criteria.
