We are network for people who are into using remote cameras to capture images of wildlife. Most of the members are biologists, managers, and aboriginal technicians, with nature/outdoor clubs also interested as well as a few hunters who want to contribute to conservation. Basically outdoorsy types. It would eventually be good to see schools placing cams in areas within cell reception and then the children checking them regularly from their classrooms. Some of the images captured are great. I am doubting there necessarily be a massive public audience for our website though. Mainly user focused.
Note that I really don't like 98% of environmental logos. They are boring and all look the same. And I'm not into cartoony logos. I'd like to see something clean, modern and unique. Our website is bcparksfoundation.ca, which gives you some idea of style preference and feel.

People hike into the wild, place a camera, and then return weeks later to download images. The fun of remote cameras is seeing what you have ‘caught’. There is a feeling of excitement and surprise. The main usefulness of remote cameras is inventorying animals that are hard to find through other methods.
Having a rarer and more elusive animal captures the feeling and utility of remote cameras.
Our discussions so far are to have a camera shutter frame around a lynx. Lynx is important as it is rare and elusive, and found in most places in BC and Canada where the network will operate.
The purpose of the network is mainly to understand wildlife abundances and locations so they can be better managed.
Attached file shows a few student designs to date. The first image was the best: group liked the shutter, didn't like the bear (wanted a Lynx instead), didn't love the font.
A few people wanted fewer colours. The idea behind the colours in the mock up are: Each colour in the frame represents a wildlife value (green= biodiversity; turquoise= wildlife as part of our super natural identity in BC; salmon= culture; blue= economic value; beige= recreational value; yellow= stewardship and our provincial motto: “splendour without diminishment”). Those colours have continuity with our current BC Parks Foundation brand colours, which is good. So maybe it is choosing a few main colours and using the rest as accent colours.
