Geodica / TouchPass


Geodica is a start-up with a vision to change the way transactions are secured online. Geodica has a combination web service and mobile device client that allows online merchants and sites of all kinds to secure transactions with second factor authentication (2FA).

TouchPass has three advantages over traditional 2FA security mechanisms: it is disruptively cheaper, which means it can be used for a much broader range of financial and non-financial transactions; it is incredibly simple to use, not requiring passwords keys or codes; and it adds a new privacy respecting dimension to make online transactions safer.

Underpinning TouchPass is a number of patent-pending technologies that allow 2FA transactions to occur in a uniquely secure manner with full privacy protection for relying party and end user.

Geodica is three Sydney-siders with a passion for innovation in financial services. We have broad experience in online banking, security, identity and payments, successfully delivering a number of large projects to Tier-1 banks in Australia.

Geodica is initially targeting online merchants looking for a cost effective and high usability / low friction mechanism to reduce the incidence of card-not-present fraud for online transactions.

Because of its disruptive cost model and unique security and privacy characteristics, TouchPass is applicable beyond traditional electronic commerce, supporting non-financial transactions where it has been hitherto uneconomic to provide second factor authentication. TouchPass can work equally well for high volume financial transactions or very low margin social networking and social commerce transactions. It works just as well to reduce fraud as it does to prevent identity theft.

Geodica plans to build out a number of web services designed to take advantage of the TouchPass 2FA process, as well as allow mobile device app developers to include the TouchPass algorithm and code into their own apps.


We are looking for a pair of logos: for TouchPass and Geodica, within a common theme, but we want to concentrate on "TouchPass" first. If this works out, we'll come back and run more comps for the other logos, the site and some icons.

We also want the logo to work for other products and services within the Touch* family (eg “TouchThis” and “TouchThat”, etc).

We are looking to hit the midpoint between “boring corporate financial services security” at one extreme, and “funky web start-up” at the other. We are doing something different, so we want that to come through in the logo.

We are also looking for a design element (or design element theme) within the logo that can work for web as well as for icons on popular smartphone platforms (iOS, Android and RIM).

By way of example, we think that the guys from 37signals have managed to create a fantastic look and feel with their branding that places them clearly at the funky end of enterprise, without being so far out as to lose their credibility.

We are very fond of negative space, and prefer minimalism to anything fancy. In fact, the simpler the better, as we really want to carry the ease of use idea through into the logo and branding.

We also have a very specific “don’t”: as we are doing something different with security, we are quite keen to avoid anything at all to do with locks, keys and chains that traditionally adorn security products and services.
