Startupday is a conference being put together by the Seattle 2.0 site (http://www.seattle20.com). Is the first of its kind because it targets only pre-entrepreneurs (people not doing startups right now) and all the speakers will be successful entrepreneurs themselves.
The Seattle 2.0 site is a hub for all technology entrepreneurs in Seattle, with a strong brand around community, bringing visibility to Seattle-based startups and entrepreneurs, and helping educate tech entrepreneurs.
The conference itself will be like a book on startups. From how to define your idea, to how to fund your business, to how to find customers.
The primary audience are technology people (software developers, program managers, general managers) working on large technology companies that have a dream of someday founding or joining a startup.
These are well-educated, mostly male, in their mid-20s to their late 30s.
We need a logo with the phrase "Startup Day". It can be together, as in "StartupDay" or with a space "Startup Day".
We also want to incorporate the words "by Seattle 2.0" using our original brand (see http://www.seattle20.com).
This logo should be independent brand from the Seattle 2.0 brand, but it would have to be used with the Seattle 2.0 brand without the feeling of disconnect. The colors can be different, but again, most have harmony with the colors on the Seattle 2.0 blue and orange.
I like simple logos with few elements. It should be a logo that can be resized to a small resolution to fit on a website (200-300px wide), but also used on a large banner at the event.
It has to be an horizontal logo (wider than taller)
I'd like to convey the feeling of people that are not sure how to do a startup, but they are sure they want to do a startup. Maybe something that relates to scafoldings, or construction, or a "draft design", but don't go to far and overdo it. It should feel "safe", "fun", "empowering" and "inspiring".
