Design Brief - Awards WA
-- Awards WA is a newly developed West Australian entity, responsible for the delivery of a number of Youth Achievement programs in Western Australia. This entity will be the overarching delivery agency for a range of globally recognized and State delivered programs aimed at recognizing youth achievement in WA of citizens aged from 10 - 25.
-- We are seeking the creation of a logo which will serve as the overarching brand for a number of programs offered by Awards WA.
We need the logo to reflect a number of tenets :
-- The logo will be of a ‘wordmark’ style or ‘chapeau’ (overarching) brand using the words 'Awards WA'. The Wordmark can include a design element in it - but we are not looking for the creation of an instantly recognizable logo such as Apple, etc - the significance of the word Awards WA is sufficient - as this is a State Govt funded body and needs to reflect a simple, strong, trusted, corporate theme.
-- We need a simple, yet strong wordmark which is not overly busy or overly complicated in a range of colours, as there will be a minimum of three other (already quite colourful) brands underneath Awards WA.
-- A corporate look to assist in reflecting the trusted relationships we need to build with funding partners and donor partners - we are a not for profit organisation and receive funding from a range of Govt and donor sources.
-- The logo should resemble a credible and trustworthy organisation
representing the trust required in an organisation which advocates youth mentoring, youth achievement and self development and working with young people.
We work with an amazing community of stakeholders including: our Participants, Volunteers, schools and community groups, Government Departments, the National Award Authority, other state /territory Award Authorities, Sponsors, other not for profit organisations, Ambassadors, Adult Mentors for our Participants and a vast range of youth service providers.
Ultimately, the design is to reflect stability, trust and to provide confidence.
Awards WA, reports directly to a Volunteer Board of Non Executive Directors, with patronage by the Governor of Western Australia.
Our website for the main program we deliver (The Duke of Edinburgh's International Award) is contained here :
Attached file represents suggested colours and fonts that could form a basis for the logo. However, the font needs to be readily accessible and not having to be purchased. The red needs to be a deeper colour as the one shown is a little too bright.
