John A. Patten Painting & Decorating
We are a small family run professional painting company that has been in business since 1977. We specialize in medium to high end painting jobs, but treat every job as if it is high end. We are dedicated to giving our customers the highest quality work possible. Every job is done right; we take pride in everything we do.
Any home owners or businesses that require our services within the Vancouver B.C. area. Preferably ones that appreciate a quality workmanship.
They can range in age any where from 20 somethings to 70 somethings.
I have tried to design a logo myself and have repeatedly hit a brick wall, so I have a lot of respect for what you guys do.
We are looking for a logo that reflects the fact that we are a quality, experienced and well established painting company.
We are looking for a clean creative logo. Only use painting graphics (paint brushes, rollers cans) if it can be incorporated in classic classy
There are no set colours. Whatever you feel gives that air of “quality and experience “
Here is our website http://www.johnpattenpainting.ca I put it out there so you can get a feel for who we are. The site itself will be revamped and based on the new logo.
One of the problems I was having with a logo was using the acronym J.A.P not very pc. So if that is something you are thinking about and the “A” is a problem, try it without.
I know I have left it wide open and not much direction, but I would rather see many different ideas. Besides you guys are the pros at this.
This logo will be used for letter heads, t-shirts, business cards and of course our website, pretty much you will be designing our new look. I can’t wait to see what you come up with.
After having the opportunity to see all the various designs and ideas that have been presented today, I have come up with a list of things that I would prefer not to see in the logo. I hope this will help you.
1. No rainbows with primary colours or anything with the primary colours associated with rainbows. I would prefer to see more sophisticated and modern colours, the kind of colours that we would be using if we were doing a really hip and up to date house. The catch 22 of that is it can’t be too trendy; otherwise the logo will be out of date next year. So maybe “sophisticated, classical with a twist of hip”, if it is possible.
2. There doesn’t seem to be a way around the “Jap” issue. So from now on if you use initials can you just use the “JP”?
3. No designs with paint drips or splatters, I think it might convey the wrong message about our painting abilities.
The files we will require are:
Print file format - .ai (CMYK)
Web file format - .jpg and layered .psd (RGB)
Please do not use any stock images or clip art in the logo
