The Melbourne Sleep Disorders Centre is a well-established clinic, for the assessment and treatment of sleep disorders. Our motto is "We look at sleep differently", reflecting the varied conditions we treat and the range of approaches we employ. Increasingly, our referrals come via our (home grown) website but we recognise the need for a parallel web offering, with blogs, discussion groups and timely news from the world of sleep medicine and science. We have called this Sleep Central.

There are at least 4 different audiences for our Sleep Central service: existing patients of the clinic who want to learn more, prospective patients, referring doctors and those who are fascinated by sleep disorders. We treat patients from the age of 12 to 100 but this site will potentially appeal to a younger demographic. Updates to the site will be communicated via customized email, RSS feeds, Twitter, FaceBook and LinkedIn. Using the SquareSpace environment, we can adjust the experience for different targeted audiences. Using professional medical journalists, we will provide up-to-date and punchy information on sleep and its disorders, in a way that keeps people clicking through, week after week. A proportion of those will become patients of our clinic or, more importantly, become loyal referrers of their patients to our service. Sleep Central's aim is to keep our clinic at "top of mind" for prospective patients and referrers.
We require a bright, modern logo, with appropriate typography and tag line, to embody the blend of healthcare and social connectivity, that reflects the way we now inform ourselves about a range of issues, including our health. This logo will be suitable for our website, email campaigns, stationery and print advertising, in a way that stands out from the crowd. The title and tag line are currently: Sleep Central: discuss, learn, connect - although we would be happy to take advice on a different tag line. The design should be quite abstract and reflect a sense of sleep, conversation, learning and healing. Please avoid obvious iconic solutions, such as the moon and stars (see attached logos for our main business and two affiliated services for the sort of solutions we envisage). Feel free to use color in the solution, even if this makes it bold or lyrical, rather than classically calm or relaxing. Relaxed, fun and modern shapes and typography are important. Like many others, I like the Laura Rauch Photography design, also attached.
