Currently Maketropolis is developing a open access workplace for the Eindhoven region, in the Netherlands in Europe. Eindhoven is Europe's self proclaimed 'design capital' and is trying to make Eindhoven in a designers hot spot. Therefore Eindhoven needs an open access workplace. Where designers can work on their products and prototypes by using a wide variety of machines and tools (lasercutting, 3D printing, drilling, milling, sawing, sewing, welding, soldering, painting, molding and much, much, more). Maketropolis main target users are designers, but Maketropolis will also be open to whoever is interested in working on building projects. Maketropolis will not just offer machines and space to work, but also will provide education on how to make stuff and how to work with the machines. Maketropolis will be open late every day of the week.
The Maketropolis concept is very similar to California's open access shop called TechShop (see it at http://www.techshop.ws). But there will be differences. The first big difference that we want to make with TechShop is in our corporate identity, we want it to be simple, beautiful, we want it to have potential to become an icon. The logo will serve as the first stepping stone for the rest to come. If you come up with THE logo, we are looking forward to work together in the future!
We at Maketropolis have toyed around with a logo design, but found it quite hard to come up with something that we found great enough. The logo really must radiate that Maketropolis is THE PLACE to go and MAKE your stuff. We have our own ideas about the logo, but we would like to see what others can come up with, just by having read the description about the concept above, and the name 'Maketropolis'. We will provide feedback and guidance in the comments and are very excited about seeing some great logo designs!
