My name is Ivan and I am currently undergoing treatment for leukemia at City of Hope Hospital. I am setting up a foundation as a result of my experience with this disease. The name of the foundation, “Ivan’s Choice Leukemia Foundation” is derived from my choice to fight this disease, to never quit. The pain and discomfort of both the disease and its treatment, took me to the brink, indeed, very dark places. There were many times I thought of giving up and just fade away. This would have been the easy thing to do. Instead I made a choice: to fight, to survive, to beat cancer. My leukemia is at an undetectable level at this time, and it's now time for me to help and inspire others to never give up.
Ivan’s Choice Leukemia Foundation will help children diagnosed with this terrible disease by offering direct financial aid to their parents, as well as by organizing and transporting children to sporting events to lift their spirits and help them cope with the challenges and difficulties of their treatment.
The Full name "Ivan's Choice Leukemia Foundation” should be on the logo, but it could be broken down into two parts; i.e.: 1) Ivan's Choice and 2) Leukemia Foundation. The stress should be on "Ivan's Choice".
The logo should have and inspiring and hopeful nature, airy and light, something for everyone, corporate sponsors as well as the children. DO NOT DESIGN SOMETHING CONSERVATIVE OR CONVENTIONAL.
The following is written by Ivan's father, Luis:
Ivan went to work one day in the morning, and that same evening was at a hospital diagnosed with the worst type of leukemia. I have uploaded a photo, not to be used as part of the logo, but to illustrate the emotion we want to create with the logo. At the time this photo was taken Ivan had just finished vomiting... for the 6th time that morning. He was nauseous, in pain, dizzy... but none of it mattered. Ivan always had hope and a smile. He never quit, despite the seemingly insurmountable obstacles. And despite the very low survival rate (30%).
Ivan is the strongest and happiest person I know, nothing will bring him down. Through his own inner strength and will, he always maintained hope and looked ahead, for LIFE was ahead.
There are many children suffering from leukemia. They go through a lot. We would like them to feel ever so slightly better when they see the logo.
I know this is a lot to convey with just a logo. Do your best. Thank you.
