UPDATE: We want the winning logo to translate well to online, print, and gear (t-shirts, caps, coffee mugs, etc.). I apologize if that wasn't clear in the original brief.
UPDATE (Sat, 9/26, 9pm California, USA time): Thanks everyone. We have some really good candidates now. BUT, I do want to let any current and prospective competitors now that this contest is still WIDE OPEN. I like that we now have some compelling Rickshaw-inspired logos. But we truly welcome other interpretations! What else communicates auto repair and Japan? What else about Japan? Maybe Mt. Fuji. Maybe a sense of quality. Maybe sushi? Who knows? Whatever?
This is the first time this logo has been reimagined in nearly 30 years and we're open to new ideas! Thanks again ... we really do appreciate it!
UPDATE: I really want to see someone replicate the old logo (linked to in a comment) as a starting point. That doesn't mean that that's gong to win, but doing just that will put you in the lead (as of now with 3+ days to go).
Japanese Auto Center is located in Southern California and is for anyone needing auto repair (i.e., just about anyone). Family owned and operated for over 25 years, this is the auto-repair shop we all wish we had close by. Honest, efficient, a great value, and run by a fun-loving red-haired Irish guy. Irish doing Japanese; who knew?! But actually, they work on any car these days ... they started with a focus on Japanese but expanded over the years as their work and reputation expanded.
