Restaurant Bucket List by Foodie Registry
Foodie Registry (http://www.foodieregistry.com) is an online store and wedding registry for upscale restaurant gift certificates. Just like Macy's is a store that sells things, and also has a wedding registry to let people register for those things, we're a store for restaurant gift certificates, and we have a wedding registry to let people register for them.
We are building a Facebook app called "Restaurant Bucket List" that lets people create a list of upscale restaurants they want to go to (hence "bucket list", a list of things you want to do before you die), and a list of restaurants they have been to, lets them share with their friends, and finally lets friends buy gift certificates by linking the app to our site.
The app is being built now and we want sharp and distinct branding, via the logo (and header bar) to help enhance the app and position it the same way we position Foodie Registry (upscale, chic, fun, urban), and also most importantly, to make it clear the app is part of Foodie Registry.
Our site was designed with a lot of dark colors to evoke the feeling of a sexy night out on the town. We position ourselves as a chic, luxury service used by modern, stylish city dwellers, and want our app to reinforce that.
This app is aimed at Facebook users aged perhaps 21-35 who live in big cities and appreciate fine dining. Our target user is a sophisticated, educated professional who has a good sense of style and taste and who enjoys going out to new restaurants or hot spots in their city with their friends and/or significant other.
The idea is that this person has, in their head, names of restaurants in their town that are "on their list" to go to at some point. By putting that list into an app not only will we provide value by letting them learn more about their friends and find places they all want to go together, but it also clues their friends/family to where they might like a gift certificate to as a birthday/holiday gift. It's our way of letting people create a "wish list" or birthday registry without it actually being one, since people don't usually make those for birthdays or holidays the way they do for weddings. they are also able to indicate restaurants they have been to and write a mini-review.
The app is being built and has a placeholder logo/header in place, see here: http://apps.facebook.com/resturantbucketlist/ Feel free to click through and see the structure and feel of the app. It's not done from a coding standpoint, but the UI is more or less set. On the first page of the app the header just has RBL logo, but when you click through you see a variation that has the logo on the left side and a square cutout of the Foodie Registry logo. What I'm looking for is (a) a logo image (app will be called "Restaurant Bucket List" unless you have a better idea!), and (b) this header to be redone, with the logo you design and incorporating the Foodie Registry logo (attached), possibly some sort of tagline for the app, and a way to show it's powered by Foodie Registry. We do want to keep relatively the same color scheme so that it meshes with FoodieRegistry.com well, but you have creative license. Just note white background in app will remain, different from black background on our site. I know this contest is for a logo only, but I'm hoping the fact that the winning design will be on an actual Facebook app that will be launched in the next couple months and backed by a successful e-commerce co, will be enough to convince you. If you want to submit logo only to begin it's fine as long as there is agreement you will design header if you are selected as a finalist.
