We are new website scheduled to launch in March of 2011.
Our Goal is to create a fun and lively place that will bring the maritime and coastal communities of Southern California closer together.
We will include a dynamic maritime directory, a Sustainable Seafood Guide to Restaurants, as well as weekly discount deals and local news pertaining to the ocean.
We work very closely with non-profit organizations that are connected to the ocean including those that focus on water pollution, boat safety, and wildlife rescue and preservation.
Above all we are looking to bring the maritime and coastal communities closer together. At the moment surfers don't talk to boaters, and scuba divers don't know a lot of commercial fishermen... our goal is to change that and bring everyone together for the love of the ocean!
Our name comes from the idea of "getting your sea legs", or becoming comfortable on the water.
- Those that love and use the water (specifically the ocean)
- Maritime business owners
- Water-related non-profit orgs.
We need a COOL logo ... most importantly it must not be cheesy or outdated.
It is easy to become cheesy really quickly when you are trying to incorporate maritime or nautical aspects into a logo.
We will have multiple cartoon characters featured throughout the site (illustrator is still working on them, but will be in the simplistic "Japanamation/ Paul Frank" style). Because of this we don't want to go too cartoonish on the logo.
Overall, we are looking for something modern and creative. We are open to ideas and are really just looking to get a different take on our image.
We are leaning toward having the logo just say "My Sea Legs", but are open to having it include the ".com" if it is done tastefully.
Some key words that we'd like our logo to convey include:
-oceanic (can include anything you can imagine, but stay away from cheesy ;))
