I love using software and I want to create software that people love using. Software is a tool in our hands that should give us satisfaction as we use it. Auctober is such a tool.
Small to medium volume ebay sellers who want a no-nonsense easy-to-use tool that automates the boring and cumbersome tasks of writing emails, invoices, etc. and/or who are fed up with slow-loading web-based tools. Auctober users love selling and don't want a tool to get in their way. Rather, the tool makes them love what they do even more!
Content & Layout:
- Must contain a maple leaf and the word Auctober
- The maple leaf will be used as an application icon so it must still be recognizable at 16x16 pixels.
- The leaf and the text may overlap, as long as I can still extract the leaf to use as an icon
- Feel free to improvise with the maple leaf, can be abstract
Look & Feel:
Since the product name is a play on words with "auction" and "october", I would tend to go with autumn colors, but the autumn theme shouldn't be so obvious as to distract from the fact that Auctober is a software product. If in doubt, rather stress the software product theme than the autumn one.
I will favor designs that are simplistic yet powerful over ones that try to awe you by a lot of "special effects". Try to refrain from using gradients as much as possible.
These are the old logos:

Logos I like:
Sun Microsystems ( http://www.sun.com ) - this is just genious, of course it strikes a chord with my geek-nature :-)
Adidas ( http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikiped…s-logo.svg )
Energy XT ( http://energy-xt.com )
SVG format, or other vector format that can be imported into Inkscape, since I do not own Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator.
