Branding for a New York City underground speakeasy

I was thinking of two things: 1) the concept, and lived reality of the "speakeasy," and the incredible history and culture associated with them; 2) the notion of "caveat" as a disclaimer, or warning. Melding these two concepts together, I add an exclamation mark on Caveat, to denote an interjection, and I change the lead C into an ear, to denote the quiet speech that attended the first speakeasies, but that now are places where people can gather to talk and experience the richness of a modern urban culture. I wanted the C/ear to function as both: to be balanced between these two. Along the way, it also occurred to me that the C/ear and the exclamation mark could be used together, in certain circumstances, as an abbreviated mark, or a mini logo that might be useful in-house.

Art in DUMBO is an online resource for people in the New York City art world to learn about the art galleries, artist residencies, and arts advocacy groups in DUMBO, Brooklyn. Art in DUMBO also acts as a community coalition of these art organizations, uniting the individual organizations and raising the profile of the arts in DUMBO. Through our website and social media platforms, we profile each arts institution located in DUMBO and maintain an events calendar. I was mainly inspired by the texture of the Brooklyn bridge anchorage formed by those huge blocks, but also by the cardboard boxes produced in the Robert Gair. For the letters, I used the typeface used in the New York subway, Helvetica Bold.

The task was to create the logo for brand and outstanding design for the sachet packaging. Our design studio decided to create the layout made on focusing to central image which has "magical" mental associations. Also we chose the way of bolding the logo and sachet with gold Pantone color and UV varnish which were designed to make the sachet's look expensive and outstanding feeling. As the result, the label is nice and fits all the positioning point the best way.

Looking for a contemporary logo design that plays off the company name.

Logo submission for a New York based company that makes mead. The contest holder wanted something to set it apart from the usual bee related logos and also to draw attention to the idea that mead is a little like the forgotten child in the alcohol industry ie: Middle Child. The middle child is represented by the statue of liberty (a bee with hopps as her head, beehive as the flame and the mead as the tablet), whilst the empire state and flatiron buildings (beehives themselves), serve as the other siblings.
