The Institute seeks an illustration of a book with characters for a new flyer advertising summer reading skills programs for 1st graders through 8th graders. The primary audience for the flyer is teachers and parents of elementary school students, ages 6 through 14. The flyer is sent to elementary schools, passed out by teachers, and then taken home by students to show parents. The successful illustration will be exciting to children, will encourage teachers to distribute the flyer to parents and encourage parents to read the flyer.
We would like an illustration of multiple characters coming out of or surrounding a book. We would like the illustration to feature representative characters from great children’s literature genres such as adventure, fantasy, historical, fairy tales and realistic fiction.
We have uploaded a sample illustration from a Children’s Book Week poster that has the right imaginative feel and embodies the excitement and spirit of learning to read, and have uploaded our preschool flyer which has a Book with Characters image that has been popular among younger children.
The successful design will embody the fun and excitement young children feel about learning to read, as well as appeal to an older child’s discovery of the world of meaning and adventure found through reading.
