Google Global Collaborators
My name is Mark Wolf, I've worked for The Executive Office of The President at The White House, The Emperor of Japan, US Navy, and Our Public School founded by Maya Soetoro-Ng. My goal in life is to work as hard as I can to create a better world, and the mission of Global Collaborators is to empower people around the world to collaborate and create the world as it should be.
Google Global Collaborators is a potential google project we're sharing with them. The premise is we are using Google Earth, a representation of our real world, and making it into a Mass multi player online game with missions similar to World of Warcraft but that seek better the real world by serving as a curriculum for K-12 students around the world. The virtual world serves as a collaborative space where they can work together on assignments. The in game assignments are missions that focus on finding solutions to global challenges, and the online site serves as a philanthropic foundation and civic engagement campaign to turn the virtual world solutions into real world realizations.
We need a website design that communicates what our mission is: to empower people, instill them with pride for their service, and make it a collaborative sharing space.
The initial target audience for this is very apparent - google. What would they like?
Would be good to include google earth in logo
Students and educators are also a target audience. This site will house the curriculum that educators and students (K-12, but focusing on 6-12 at first) will go to to launch their virtual world collaborative missions. It's also important to keep in mind the first word of the Title - "Global." This site will need to attract students, educators, and parents from all over the world.
Additionally, the virtual world should attract users of all types because it’s a video game that uses a base gameplay similar to World Of Warcraft and will attract the 18-35 yr old demographic, but is healthier and promotes education and service versus killing creatures.
Social media is a very important component to the civic engagement piece as Facebook "likes" and Twitter "retweets" will be measured as votes to fund the best solutions created through the virtual world.
So in a nutshell, the focus should be on 6-12th graders, educators, and parents, but be broad enough to attract anyone in the world.
As a Creative Media artist, I encourage you to take the below thoughts I have, then feel free to add your own creative flare and artistic vision to the site. Do not be afraid to let loose and do what you feel is best :)
Here are some thoughts and resources:
- I've Outlined a wire frame of what I think the site could look like - see them here and feel free to contact me at email@example.com with thoughts/questions:
-THEMES or keywords to think about in the design of the site:
CLEAN, EASY TO USE
DIGITAL MEDIA & TECHNOLOGY
PRIDE IN SERVING
-Some other sites I like:
http://ecoheroes.me/ because it associated being eco-friendly with being a superhero and it measure individual impact on the environment in a fun way
-Here's another site with similar goals, though I don't like the design:
- getschooled.com because it is simple to navigate through and aesthetically interesting
- Images I like
Thankyou so much for your help, and please let me know who you are, as I would like to continue working with you as a website/graphic design position afterward.
