I am a brand-new developer looking to target Apple's iPhone App Store. Programming has been a passion of mine for many years and this particular project represents my first attempt to release a commercial application. If I'm successful, I would love to turn this "hobby" into a full-blown career. While my personality is best represented as "comical," my applications tend to be all business, always staying within the confines of Apple's provided UI elements.
The target audience for this project is iPhone users that would be prone to using their phone as a shopping list. In my experience, this group tends to be more on the female side, usually college-age or older. However, as one of the key points of this app is automating something that's fairly manual now, it may appeal to guys... again, probably college-age or older. Given my programming tendencies, a more gender-neutral, business-oriented design would probably work best.
I'm looking for an icon to represent a soon-to-the-market iPhone application. The application is designed to be a type of automated shopping list.
The icon will need to include BOTH of the following elements:
1. An object that represents shopping or a shopping list. I can see that being:
- A shopping cart
- A paper list
- A checkbox with a checkmark in it
I'm not opposed to something different here though.
2. An object that represents automation or a cycle. I can see that being:
- Some kind of "refresh" symbol (to clarify, I mean "refresh" in terms of a web browser's refresh/reload button)
- A recycling symbol
- Some kind of machine
Again, I'm not opposed to something different here though. Also, I tossed around the idea of using lightning to represent the "live" element, but that was generally rejected.
Honestly, the rest of the elements of the design are totally open for creativity. Whether or not you stay close to Apple colors and designs, that's fine by me.
In terms of output, if you can give me a 512x512 image (a.k.a. an "App Store icon"), I will resize it as needed to fit the rest of my project.
