I need the front cover to say LEARNING LOVE in a bold print of some kind and to have the subtitle: Resurrecting the Relational Christian Life featured prominently. The author's name is to appear visibly but not ostentatiously. Basically the book is about how modern Christians slip into busyness, brokenness, addiction (or outright, undeniable sin)--anything to keep us from connecting deeply with God, ourselves and others.
The artwork and cover concept need to reflect the feel of this theme. The sky's the limit on ideas. I prefer concepts that don't hit you right over the head (a little interpretation/symbolism is nice).
My editor and I have worked with the idea of resurrecting bones into fully formed people (as in the "valley of dry bones" from Ezekiel 37) but using fish (the ancient symbol for Christianity). This imagery could work (if done creatively) but I am open to anything that is faithful to the idea of 'risking it all' for vulnerability with Christ and others.
I don't mind original or edgy (when it comes to content, design or color) but I don't want weird or off-putting. I love the cover designs of InterVarsity Press or Crossway Books if you want some guidance. Please no cliches! (such as crosses, doves, kitschy Jesus figures--have some originality please!)
